Art Along the Way: A Journey Past Murals, Sculptures & More from Maine toFlorida
This is a video montage of my best images of murals, quirky yard displays and sculpture for the last 7 years on US Route 1. It has been inspiring to go back through my files to re-experience all of the ways many generations have made art from Maine to Florida. Maybe it’ll inspire you to share your art with others!
A shout out to the folks in Fellswater who played the music that runs under the video! This is the second time I’ve featured their music in a video about art & I hope you’ll agree that it provides a splendid foundation. For those of you wanting to hear more Fellswater… go here: fellswater.com/
I deliberately left out monuments and burial grounds, even though they definitely fall into the category of “Public Art”. I think those images will be included in another video like this one. Stay tuned!
I’ve used a broad definition of “Public Art”, to include sculpture used for advertising a business, yard ornaments, and a little graffiti, too. Some of the pieces require admission to the place where they’re shown, but most do not. You’ll also notice that I’ve included the names of places I’ve visited where art is actively being made and displayed. Those art groups along Route 1 have been a wonderful inspiration!
