On route and almost there !

Bob's Clam Hut in Kittery, ME 2018
An institution of gastronomic satisfaction on Route 1 since 1956, Bob’s has seen some changes over the years. I got to interview owner, Michael Landgarten to get his definition of Americana. He regaled me with stories of Bob Kraft, the originator of the restaurant.
One such story which didn’t fit into the video was how Bob used to lie down in the middle of Route 1 in his bathing suit on a summer day with his “Eat Clams” sign. This literally stopped traffic, so that he could invite them to the hut for a meal, and then to his mother Lillian’s at the house next door for free pie. It is one of the most daring marketing campaigns I ever heard of!
