In Honor of Audi Trinidad and his Family
On July 6, 2018, Audi Trinidad, along with his wife and 4 daughters, were in tragic automobile accident on Route 1. Audi Trinidad, and his 4 daughters, were killed after their minivan collided with a heavy-duty pickup truck that crossed over the grass median dividing Delaware Route 1. The lone survivor was his wife, Mary Rose Ballocanag, who was brought to the Delaware hospital with serious injuries. Audi Trinidad’s life story is the ultimate American tale of a father, immigrant, and U.S. Veteran. Trinidad, 61, grew up in the Philippines, and in 1987, he came to the United States, and then he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving for seven years. After his service with the U.S. Navy, he worked for the Postal Service and got a home in Teaneck, New Jersey, where he raised his family of four girls with his wife. For Trinidad, it was an honor to serve America, a country that offered the promise of success for his family. His brother Danny Trinidad, stated that, “He was proud to be an American” and “He wanted a better life for himself and a family.” Trinidad spent his Navy career aboard the USS Mount Whitney. Trinidad’s daughters that were also killed in this crash were, Kaitlyn, 20; Danna, 17; and Melissa and Allison, 13-year-old twins. Kaitlyn, known as Nikki, was a student at the College of Mount Saint Vincent in the Bronx. Danna was a junior at Teaneck High School. The twins, Melissa and Allison, attended Thomas Jefferson Middle School in Teaneck.
