Your story belongs on Route 1
Your story belongs on Route 1
Have a story about life along Route 1? We'd like to hear it.
Route 1 Views publishes real, original writing about America's first highway — history, reportage, photo essays, road notes. If you're a writer looking for a byline that's read, edited with care, and credited in full, this is a place to do serious work. Pitch us a piece and we'll treat it like one.
And you don't have to write a word. If you have something worth keeping — photos, a recording, a tip, a name — send it and we'll take it from there.
How it works
Whether you're pitching an article or just dropping off a photo.
1. Send it over
A full pitch, a rough idea, or just a few files. Whatever you've got is a fine place to start.
2. A real editor replies
A person reads everything that comes in and gets back to you, usually within a week. No bots, no form letters.
3. We publish it well
Edited properly, with your byline and bio. If you sent raw material, we'll shape it into a piece — you still get the credit.
A few things people send us
If it touches Route 1, we want it. For instance:
- A finished article or photo essay — or a one-line pitch for one
- A grandparent's audio recording of the way the road used to be
- A tip that a historic building is about to be demolished
- An intro to someone who runs a local historical society
- A stack of photos from a parent's old album
A note from us
"We started Route 1 Views to celebrate the people who've lived, worked, and wandered along America's first highway. Every story we get reminds us why. Whatever you send, a real person here will read it — and we'd genuinely love to hear yours."
Peter Evans — Curator, Route 1 Views
