Bettie Page and Bunny Yeager at Miami’s Funland

Before Disneyworld, from 1952 until 1970 Funland Amusement Park was quite popular in Miami for it’s rides like the Wild Mouse roller coaster, Bumper Cars, Jet Swings, Spookhouse, Tilt a Whirl, Spinning Round Up and Ferris Wheel along with carnival games and all the cotton candy you could eat. 

 

But what really put Funland on the map were two bathing beauties back in 1954. 

 

Bunny Jaeger was a statuesque (5 foot 10′) model turned photographer that was trying to elevate cheesecake to an art form with her sensual images of the girl next door.  She was known as the World’s Prettiest Photographer.  

 

Her big break came when she hired Bettie Page,  who became known as the Legendary Queen of the Pinups and popularized the bikini.  

 

At this time Betty was known primarily to the fetish community as the whip welding dominatrix and bondage girl. 

 

Bunny sent her pictures of Betty at Funland to Hugh Hefner, that was launching his new magazine called Playboy and that photo shoot launched their careers and made them famous still today.
