I recently had lunch meeting with Peter Evans, the creator and owner of Route1Views, at Metro Diner in Bensalem, Pennsylvania, just off Route 1. Located near Neshaminy Mall, the AMC Neshaminy 24, and Cairn University, the restaurant offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
The experience was fantastic. The food was delicious, the service was outstanding, and the prices were lower than expected. I ordered the San Francisco Benedict, while Peter chose the fish and chips. Both meals tasted amazing.
The San Francisco Benedict features Canadian bacon, sliced avocado and tomato, two poached eggs on an English muffin, creamy Hollandaise sauce, and hash browns. Peter’s fish and chips looked equally appetizing, as shown in the accompanying photos.
For families with kids, Metro Diner has a Kids Eat Free promotion where kids, 10 years old and younger, can enjoy a free meal off the Metro Diner Kid’s Menu with the purchase of an adult entrée on Wednesdays after 2pm.
Metro Diner’s History
Metro Diner’s story began in 1938, when the building that would become its first location opened in Jacksonville, Florida. The restaurant was officially branded as Metro Diner in 1992 and grew into a popular destination for comforting classics and reimagined favorites.
With the help of Master Chef Mark Davoli and his family, Metro Diner continued expanding and eventually appeared on Guy Fieri’s *Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives*. Signature dishes such as the Iron City Meatloaf and Fried Chicken & Waffle remain central to the restaurant’s home-style menu.
Today, Metro Diner operates over 60 locations across the United States and is known for its breakfast, diner fare, burgers, and comfort-food specialties. The company’s Pennsylvania locations include Bensalem and Langhorne.
