Explore New York's Historic Pickle District: A Taste of the Lower East Side
For over a 100 years New York’s Lower East Side was famous for its pickle district, with its numerous pickle markets and vendors.
Today, the only store in New York City to get just pickles, is the Pickle Guys, which is an old school New Yorker’s dream, where they craft pickles using an authentic East European recipe that dates back to 1910, passed down through generations.
They are barrel-cured pickles that sit in a natural salt brine, infused with garlic and spices for up to 3 months without any preservatives.
Of course they have the favorite classic kosher sour dill pickles, but they also pickle carrots, mushrooms, radishes, pineapple, mango, apples, onions, brussels sprouts, red bell peppers, watermelon rind, and they even have pickle-flavored cotton candy.
Steeped in tradition, owner Alan Kaufman has over 45 years experience in pickle making.
When you open the door here, the smells are intoxicating and of course they’re all Kosher.
