When the Miami Dolphins team mascot, Snowflake the dolphin has been kidnapped, Ace is hired. With a production budget of $15 million, the film was shot entirely in the Miami area.
For Carreys’s first leading role he was paid $450,000. To reprise his role in the sequel Ace Ventura- When Nature Calls, he received $15 million.
His Trilogy of films released in 1994 included Ace Ventura – Pet Detective released in February which had a worldwide gross of $107 million. The Mask released in July grossed $352 million and finally Dumb and Dumber released in December, had worldwide gross of $247 million.
Having that banner year at the box office he was the first actor to receive $20 million (for The Cable Guy) to star in a motion picture.
