Historic Haunted Riddle House, West Palm Beach.

Are you brave enough to venture into the Riddle House, where even ghost hunters have fled in fear?

The house was constructed in 1905 as a funeral parlor, across the street from the Woodlawn Cemetery.  It was known as  the gatekeepers cottage,  hopefully to prevent grave robbers.

Named for it’s owner Karl Riddle,  the spirits from the nearby cemetery have decided they would rather stay at the house, rather than in their assigned final resting place.

The house is rumored to be haunted by several spirits, most notably Joseph, a former employee who hung himself in the attic, while his family was downstairs.
He’s supposedly stole from the owner and was experiencing financial hardships.

His spirit is reportedly aggressive towards men and has been associated with tools being thrown around the attic.

Other spirits include a woman named Mary, who haunts the kitchen often screaming, and a young boy named Michael, who fell from a window.

A large man, Buck the graveyard worker who was killed in town following an argument, is often seen on the front porch.

Some of the visitors in the past have heard the sound of two children talking and playing as if they were having a tea party.

Most of the documented abnormal activity at the house includes: disembodied voices, objects moving on their owns, tools disappearing and reappearing, while windows and doors opening and closing are often heard.

The house has been relocated multiple times and is now a central feature of Yesteryear Village at the South Florida Fairgrounds.

The Riddle House is well known for its rumored hauntings and was featured on the TV show Ghost Adventures.  Visitors and staff report strange occurrences, including the sound of 1920’s, music and a general feeling of being watched.

Guided evening ghost tours require a reservation and cost $18 per person. Open from Thursday to Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
