Hollywood's Favorite New York Bar the 7 B Horseshoe

When Hollywood comes calling for a classic New York neighborhood bar,

7 B Horseshoe Bar Aka Vazacs seems to always fit the bill.

 

The bar gets its name from the street corner it resides on and the long horseshoe shaped bar running down the center complete with 31 beer taps.  The ambience is neon signs, tv screens, pinball machines, jukebox and layers of grime.

 

It was originally constructed in 1935 as a Polish dining hall known as Vasac Hall.

 

It’s where Mick Dundee (Paul Hogan) gets unwittingly fixed up with a bloke in drag, where Henry Angel (Mickey Rourke) gets photos of Johnny Favorite in Alan Parker’s Angel Heart, and  it’s the local hangout in 1987’s Five Corners with Tim Robbins and Jodie Foster.

It’s where Paul Newman drank in The Verdict, it’s where they murdered Frankie in Godfather Part II, it’s where Al Pacino hung out in Serpico and in series like Sex in the City,  Person of Interest, Jessica Jones, Russian Doll and many more.

 

It’s an inexpensive watering hole, if you’re looking for a classic New York sports bar

with a worn-in feel. And yes they have Guinness on tap.
