Juan Ponce de Leon Route

Born into Spanish nobility Ponce De Leon was a conquistador. He became the 1st Explorer to reach Florida in 1513. His alternate quest was a miraculous Spring that could rejuvenate those who drank from it. Although he never found the famed Fountain of Youth he did colonize Florida and Puerto Rico.

Today in St Augustine is a 15 acre park named Ponce de Leon Fountain of Youth Archeological Park. It’s located where the Spanish explorers and missionaries established the 1st settlement in 1565 and also where there is an Indian burial ground.

It’s a very historical find off Route 1.
