One Love Deliciously Humble Jamaican Fare in Bridgeport, CT
In a nondescript strip mall along Route One in Bridgeport is a place where you can take a trip to Jamaica for breakfast, lunch or dinner and save the airfare. Soups, oxtails, jerk, fish, goat, brownstews, curries, cakes, and homemade juices give you an experience that’s really close to what you’d get in Kingston or Montego Bay with only a few Connecticut substitutions.
The staff is outstandingly friendly and helpful to someone like me who doesn’t know a whole lot about what’s on the menu, just that I enjoy almost everything. That’s why I’ll be sure to go back. Carrie helped me to pick out a curried fish lunch that was savory, spicy, with plenty to save for later. I also enjoyed their vegetable medley and the cornbread that came with the meal. This is ethnic pride at its best!
