Sign of the Month April, 2020 Coosawatchie, SC

Place names are a point of curiosity for me. Coosawhatchie in Jasper County, South Carolina is no exception. This month’s sign is one of the best examples of poetic Native American names that remain un-Anglicized along I-95. Each time I read Coosawhatchie, I think of how to put it into a sentence, or what kind of song it would be if that was the title. I cheated on the location, as this sign is along the coast, just above Savannah on I-95, and not on Route 1.
