There is no truth to the rumor that this was one of Jeffery Epstein’s first investments. This roadhouse may predate him! It sits directly on Route 1, just past the Crescent Motel, North of Franklinton, NC. Franklinton was one of the many small towns that were bypassed when Route 1 was expanded into a super-4 configuration in 1953. From the look of them, the motel and the road house appear to have been built in the mid- 1950’s. The 7-digit telephone number is another clue that the sign was put up before multiple area codes were being used in NC in 1954.
