Stock Island Lighted Boat Parade Key West
Route 1 cuts through Stock Island between mile markers 4 to 6, just over the Cow Key Channel.
This community known for the working class from its days as a freighter port with stock for the liveries, to today’s bustling docks for the shrimp and fishing boats and to the live aboard marinas.
While nasty weather postponed the Stock Island Key West Boat Parade the spectacle shined with dozens of entries on December 14th.
The Rotary Club of Key West turned the Perry Hotel and Marina into a Christmas Carnival, while the boat parade cruised past the marina.
Vessels of all shapes and sizes seized the opportunity to be part of this parade.
Everything from tri-masted schooners, to dinghies, to the shrimp boats, to a Coast Guard cutter, to kayaks, to the live aboard boats are covered with spectacular decorations and lights.
The afternoon included carnival treats, prizes, games, a bouncy house, photos with Santa and the Grinch and even snow, as they brought the North Pole to the tropics for all the kids.
The Gerald Adams elementary school Steel Your Heart band performed holiday tunes.
First place was won by the Schooner America, while second place went to the Izzy Rose with a Key West chicken lighting the way.
Santa waved from atop the US Coast Guard vessel that took forth place as Cruisin Tiki’s took third.
The official after party was held at the Hogfish Bar and Grill.
