Sign of the Month March, 2021 -Mianus, CT

This town is the butt of many jokes about butts. But no joke, if you’re 50 years old or more please get a colonoscopy if you haven’t already. Find a colorectal surgeon and tell them “go to Mianus and have a look around”! I made this post in observation of Colorectal Awareness Month. Sometimes a little humor, albeit sophomoric, can erase some of the embarrassment that some people have in talking about colon cancer. There was a celebrated episode of “Jackass” filmed in Mianus, where they made all sorts of rude statements like “how do I get a wiener in Mianus?”, while mispronouncing the name of the town for the whole show. It was funny in a Jackass sort of way. I thought David Letterman did a better job with “Beaver College” (Now Arcadia University), but probably because I grew up about a mile from there. I wonder, can you see Uranus from Mianus, or do you need an endoscope for that? The correct way to say the name of the town is my-AH-nus, in case you’re asking directions from a stranger….
