Apple TVs hilarious series Bad Monkey starring Vince Vaughn, based on Carl Hiaasen’s novel, is now shooting season 2 in Key West.

Hiassen,  the former Miami Herald columnist has written 14 adult novels and humorous crime thrillers, mostly related to environmentalism and political corruption in his native state of Florida.

Hiaasen’s novels and freaky characters aren’t easily suitable for television, but season 1 of Bad Monkey was a surprise hit.

The series follows Vaughn’s Andrew Yancey,  “who has been bounced from the Miami Police Department and is now a health inspector in the Keys, when he stumbles on a case that begins with a human arm fished up by tourists, he realizes if he could prove murder, he’ll be a cop again.  He just needs to get past a trove of Floridian oddballs and one Bad Monkey”.

Vince Vaughn is perfectly cast as a Hiaasen type hero and the series has a brilliant ensemble cast.

Bad Monkey producer Bill Lawrence, also co-created Ted Lasso and will also produce a series version of Hiaasen’s famous novel Skinny Dip.
