From a distance B O’s Fish Wagon might look like a pile of junk with a 48 Chevy truck parked out front. Since 1979 owner Buddy Owen used it for deliveries until it wouldn’t start.
This iconic eatery off the beaten path on Caroline Street is known for the best fish sandwiches in Key West.
The small food wagon is surrounded by funky items Buddy recovered from the sea.
You should have seen what it looked like when Jimmy Buffett visited on an episode of The Today Show in 1986.
It’s been featured by Bobby Flay and has been a hangout for Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefers since it’s right down from his recording studio on Lazy Way.
The menu is simple and the fish is always fresh from local fishermen, which has attracted a large repeat following.
The cracked conch sandwich on soft fresh Cuban bread is awesome, along with fresh grouper, wahoo, yellowtail snapper or whatever is the fresh catch that day makes great sandwiches and fish tacos.
Along with a side of laid back vibes, friendly staff and casual atmosphere, this funky little fish wagon has some of the best seafood on the island.
As Buddy says “we give you what you want and you’re full when you leave”.
It’s open from 7 am to 9 pm daily.
