Treasure Hunt of Fun at Stone Age Antiques Miami -

If you want to experience a real treasure hunt just jump off Route 1 in Miami and head to Stone Age Antiques, the oldest antique store in Florida.

Located in a 10,000 ft warehouse along the Miami River, it’s packed like a rustic dusty maze indoors and outdoors where visitors can dig through layers of history.

Founded in 1964 by Milton and his son Gary Stone, the shop originated from a post World War II landscaping business that used nautical ornaments in hotel projects in Miami Beach before transitioning into a full-time eclectic artifact business.

Milton was a bit of a character who had a reputation enjoying kicking people out of the store who tried to haggle prices with him. It is said he liked to order people to leave more than sell to them.

They have spent the last few decades supplying props to movie and TV crews, interior decorators and Hollywood set designers.

You can spend hours going bonkers here with over 1.5 million items. For example they have a copper moonshine still from Tennessee, a 4-ton ships anchor, the original Kellogg’s rooster, diving helmets, ship compasses, harpoons, portholes, African tribal masks, fossils, taxidermy, suits of armor, Spanish cannons and vintage collectibles like barber poles, trains, posters, lanterns, treasure chests, antique phones, cameras and musical instruments.

This is probably one of the best attractions in Florida and it’s free.
