Alfred James Band performs "Light of My Life" at First Unitarian Church in Philadelphia
I met Alfred Goodrich through the Orpheus Club when he joined as a member in 2013. When he was a guest, before he joined as a Singing Member, he brought his carbon fiber cello to play upstairs after rehearsal at an informal roundtable. When I heard it I thought “wow, that’s different!”. I was just beginning to learn how different! For the last 10 years we have collaborated on songwriting, recording music in his studio in Ardmore, touring Cuba and Italy with the Alfred James Band, Revels shows and concerts at the Orpheus Club, Bacchus Boy gigs, and even on his business making more carbon fiber cellos!
Alfred is remarkably talented and creative, (who plays a didgeridoo and a cello simultaneously… really?). He possesses a level of energy and positivity that humbles me. I’m proud to post a view on this great friend of mine for Music Month!
One of the finest joys of the last decade was the Alfred James Band CD release for “Up, Up, Down, Down”. They pulled out all the stops and it is a show I’ll never forget seeing. “Light of My Life” seems an appropriate song choice from the event.
