Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park and Beach - Key West, FL
Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park and Beach has it all!!
Informative plaques of history can be viewed as you walk from the Key West Channel to the beach. It is a real treat for all ages. Families can barbecue under shade trees or indulge at a full service concession stand, all while observing or participating in the snorkeling and beach side fun.
Snorkeling at its best in Key West where the Atlantic ocean meets the Gulf of Mexico. The waters are filled with tropical marine life.. (Parrot fish, Yellow tail snapper, lobsters and of course the Colorful hard and soft coral reefs). : remember to always use “coral safe” sun care products. I highly recommend wearing water socks when walking on the beach. The sand can get a bit rocky in spots.
To rinse off and freshen up there are outdoor showers, private restrooms and indoor changing rooms.
If you are one to fish bring a pole, fishing is permitted on the west side Of the Key West Shipping Channel. You can catch and prepare a fresh seafood meal for friends and family, under shade trees, open grills, and large picnic tables.
Now it’s time to savor nature’s ultimate dessert. Watching the sun setting with the colors of rainbow sherbet wait for that final “Spark” like a cherry on top. What a great way to end your day just off “Route1″
