Longwood Gardens through young eyes
I traveled to Longwood Gardens (longwoodgardens.org) on Route 1 in Kennett Square, PA about 50 years ago with my brother, Wally and his wife, Jane. I brought an Argus camera that used to belong to my Dad. You had to load celluloid film into the camera. I also carried a separate light meter, which told me how to adjust the shutter speed and the aperture of the camera in order to get the best results. There was no such thing as auto-focus, either!
I returned in the Fall of 2019 with Wally & Jane’s grandchildren, the Kafer Kids. I brought better cameras. I let Maia, Ellie and Tai take the pictures for Route1Views. The result is a witness to the peace one can experience while walking through nature. I felt that same peace when I first visited Longwood, and I’m happy to see it reverberate down through the generations.
