Blowing Rock Preserve Hobe Sound Florida

Blowing Rocks beach it’s Florida!!!

It looks like Hawaii or Maine with its limestone shore.  In Florida this rock called coquina has been used for 400 years. The Spanish used cocquina to build Castillo De San Marcos in Saint Augustine in 1672 The tides and wind bring together coral reefs sand ridges and shells. This natural combination continues to pave our roads and highways to this day.

The blow hole creating the coral and shell mixture is spectacular with the waves and water spouting up to 50′ in the air. The time to experience Hole Blowing is Winter months, always a good time in South Florida just off Route 1.
