Doggie Heaven in Melbourne, FL

This was one of the most enjoyable places I visited in Eau Gallie (Melbourne). Unpretentious, but delicious, fun but inexpensive, and it is right on Harbor City Boulevard (Route One)! They have scores of hot dog offerings once you get beyond the fundamental Chicago Style dog ($3.59) that was the bedrock of their menu when they opened in 1987. You can go vegan, pescatarian and veggie, too, so don’t be put off by the prospect of meat and nothing but meat between the buns. There’s a line at almost any hour of the day, which tells you a lot. Dining al fresco is part of the experience, and it is especially nice if you sit under the jasmine arbor. The place oozes with fun and friendship, with license plates from all over and other one-of-a-kind decorations from around the world. I can hardly wait to go back and try their “Elvis Pigsley” (hot dog with pulled pork, slaw, bacon & spicy BBQ sauce)! Location: Melbourne FL
