Opened in October 2021, Day Ridges Preserve in Gouldsboro, Maine, is a nature enthusiast’s delight, offering both hiking trails and a unique weekend paddler’s trail. Situated on Route 1, this preserve features two miles of trails for exploring, including a path through a cedar swamp and around glacial erratics. The paddler’s trail starts at Lower West Bay Pond, leading adventurers to a rustic campsite at Upper West Bay Pond. The Frenchman Bay Conservancy, committed to conserving local ecosystems, also runs a canoe loan program here, allowing visitors to fully immerse themselves in the natural beauty. This program, managed by Land Steward Garrett Black, provides canoes, paddles, and lifejackets for a memorable paddling experience, emphasizing the importance of advance reservations. Day Ridges Preserve is a testament to the community’s dedication to preserving and enjoying the natural world.
