Is Barbie Land in the Florida Keys?

With its one billion dollar gross so far, chances are you are hip to the plot of Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie”.
“Barbie” the movie puts the plastic title character on a mission to traverse from her once idyllic Barbie Land to the “real world” to seek answers to the sudden problems that ail her.
During the film the CEO of Mattel played by Will Ferrell mentions Barbie’s younger sister Skipper, saying the younger toy doll on a prior misadventure had managed to get into a family’s home in Key West and try to teach the family’s toddler how to surf in her capacity as a “babysitter”.
Noted author Harvard educated Neil deGrasse Tyson, a celebrity astrophysicist with some 20 million followers on his Facebook, Threads and X social media accounts has called on the stars and his training to tell us where he thinks Barbie Land is.
He writes in “Barbie the movie the moons orientation places Barbie world between 20 and 40 degrees north latitude on Earth. Palm trees further constrain latitude between 20 and 30 degrees. The Sun and Moon Rose to get over the ocean. So if it’s in the United States the Barbie world lands somewhere in the Florida Keys”
Although the passing movie landscape depicts mountains and the Key’s waves are not very large to surf, it should be right down there along Route 1.
