There are very few independent neighborhood coffee places I’ve visited that have as many outstanding ingredients as Junk ‘n Java in Westerly. It is immediately welcoming, with calm, comfortable spaces filled with plants and art. The coffee is top notch, as are the tea selections and the fresh baked goods. Behind the counter, they will take the time to listen to what you want, and deliver in a friendly, calm and un-rushed way, even on a busy weekend morning. There’s kids art on the wall, and media everywhere for making art, amusing you and/or your kids with puzzles and activities. There is an active bulletin board – always a great sign that J&J’s customers want to connect to other people who patronize the place. It is the sort of place I miss the most after weeks of sheltering in place back in Philadelphia!
