The restaurant operates from a house built in 1889 by the Lyman family who sold fish and oysters locally. In case you’re wondering key limes are native to Southeast Asia, they made their way to the mediterranean and arrived in America with Christopher Columbus. By the 19th century the limes thrived as a commercial crop in the Florida keys. They became popular in America when FDR visited the keys and raved about the marvelous taste.
After touring the famous house you can visit the fabulous boutique. Enjoy the largest tiki bar in South Florida and try a keylime martini while you decide on the locally caught fresh seafood. Their Award-winning homemade key lime pie is absolutely delicious.
This old Keylime House is a real good time off Route 1.
