St. Croix Bowling Club Then and Now

The building which now contains the bowling club was once the St Croix Club. The present building was built after the fire in the 1959 in which Bataan Death March survivor Doc Foster died. The St Croix Club was a men’s social club for the business elite of Calais from the late 1800s until the 1930s. The 2 story building contained reading, dining, billiard and card rooms, library, and was quite elegant. By the 1940’s it had become primarily a bowling club which it remains today.
