Key West Offshore Powerboat Racing Championships

Offshore powerboat racing is regarded as one of the most spectacular and exciting sports in the world.

Forty two years ago the first ever ocean powerboat races started in Key West from The Pier House and was sponsored by Hennessy cognac.

Participants raced to the Dry Tortugas and back while famous spectators waited at the Chart Room.

The full week of events include the Boat Parade down Duval Street, with multiple days of high speed 85 to 200 mph ultimate adrenaline rush racing.

On Sundays, races are from 10:00 AM eastern until 3:00 PM.

Crazy stuff, David!  The powerboat names remind me of monster truck shows I used to attend with my sons.  What a spectacle, but it must be a little frustrating to have to watch it all from dry land.
