Trying to ignore "Jackass" is an uphill battle in Mianus, CT
Joey B’s is a storied hot dog joint, serving breakfast and lunch just a stones throw from the Mianus River. It has been around since 2008, although the building has the feel of a place that’s been serving food for much longer than that. Their menu is surprisingly large, and the lunch I enjoyed there on a Monday afternoon was very tasty.
But the interaction with the wait staff was non-existent once I asked about the “Jackass” episode that was filmed at their counter. It was like I turned off a switch when I mentioned it. She first feigned ignorance “I think I remember hearing something about that…” and from then on I had to ask for things politely, like getting some sugar for my coffee. C’mon, you don’t forget the line “Look! I’m getting a wiener in Mianus”. The locals pronounce it MY-a-nuss, not “my anus”.
Some people don’t appreciate childish humor. Some people have trouble laughing at themselves. She is one of those people, I suppose. On the other hand, I can’t stop laughing at the Jackass episode. I love a good play on words… Oh well, it didn’t turn into the epic interview I had hoped it would be, but at least I found a good buffalo chicken wrap in Mianus.
