No Longer A Glimpse
I moved to Miami in 1976 and lived there until I graduated college in 1989. My childhood home was off of 152nd St. just north of Perrine. I am a professional musician and it was within the walls of Gulliver Academy that I began my tonal journey in 5th grade. Whether it was drag racing down the empty streets of the integral Miami thoroughfare, making the trek down to Key West or delivering pizzas when Dominos was 30 minutes or free and the only option, I spent countless hours on the southern part of this great highway. I remember vividly blasting the sounds of the newest AC/DC or Billy Squire album or letting SHE 103.5 do the spinning, while traveling up Route One to Key Biscayne to enjoy a carefree day at the sandy beaches. It was the smells, sounds and people of this time that still to this day inspire me in some way. My first exposure to many forms of music whether it was Bob Marley, the Thompson Twins or R.E.M all could be heard, rather loudly, exuding from my 1978 Pontiac TransAm— fond memories for life, Steven
