Pulpit Rock-Robbinston, Maine

If you are looking for an easy walk (with specific timing involved), look no further than Robbinston, Maine. A public pull-off is located right at the mouth of Mill Cove, and if you walk out 1 mile along the shoreline, you will find Pulpit Rock. This single mass of red sandstone is 38 feet high and only 18 feet at the base. The top of the rock is 21 feet in diameter and has hearty plants living on it.

Pulpit rock is a popular local destination, but one has to be careful about timing the adventure. Walking is easy (after you get down the very steep hill to the beach area) but your trip must be started at low tide. It’s an easy problem to solve by finding out when low tide happens and there are multiple free sites online to do just that.
