John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park

John Pennekamp state park with over 3 miles of turquoise water offers the best snorkeling in the keys.   It’s a must stop off “Route 1”.

There are water adventures for everyone at any at age from paddleboarding to kayaking and fishing.   If you’re not up to snorkeling you can see the beautiful underwater reefs and sealife for on a glass bottom boat.  When I visited Pennekamp we rented scuba gear and this was a great decision.  Diving in these waters I needed the oxygen because the underwater beauty was breathtaking.

I haven't snorkeled in the Keys for about 40 years! I remember how beautiful it was then, and hope that future generations will be able to enjoy it.
