Heading south on Route 1 on the way to Key West, we had to stop by Mrs. Macs Kitchen in Key Largo.
This local gem is where the charm of the Florida Keys perseveres, where time slows down and the essence of a coastal community shines.
It was established fifty years ago by Jeff Macfarland and named after his mother. The walls and lampshades are covered with hundreds of old license plates and you might recognize this place from the Netflix series Bloodline.
It’s kind of Florida Keys Soul Food, with fish baskets, pita sandwiches, great burgers, chicken sandwich specials, and the best in the islands smoked mullet dish dip with chips.
It’s just one of those places you’ve got to visit with their killer conch chowder, amazing chili and doggreat chili dogs.
We had mahi tacos and key lime pie french toast with sweet tea.
They are famous for their award winning key lime pie and their hot sauces.
Great prices, great setting and great service
