Reflections on New London's past

Ever since the 1970’s , I can recall coming to New London and feeling sad that it was a feeble shadow of a glorious past. Little has changed in the last 50 years, except it may have slid a little deeper into despair. What a shame! The city has magnificent bones, as shown in these photos. Route 1 used to come right through town, across the Thames River at Winthrop Point and run along Bank Street before I-95 was completed and the old bridge was demolished.
