When you’re traveling along Route 1 towards the Florida- Georgia line after driving for a few hours and the kids are awake now, itching to get out of the car and your wife is complaining that the dog needs to go (but she really does) and you’re all hungry, just head East out towards Amelia Island to Sliders Seaside Grill.
This place makes everybody happy… While the dogs can run on the beach, the kids have their own special playground and sandbox.
It’s got indoor and outdoor seating, an oceanside Tiki Bar and the drinks, food and the service and are just terrific.
It opened back in 1945 as a traditional American roadhouse destination for families and today it’s a super casual Caribbean themed restaurant right on the sand dunes with live music day and night.
It serves traditional American and fresh seafood dishes,
including shrimp and grits, lobster mac and cheese, fish tacos, crab cakes and local peel and eat shrimp.
There really are some talented local musicians that play here and it’s always a friendly crowd.
And of course they have slides for the little one’s at Sliders.
