While searching for the best Key Lime pie cupcakes on the island, we found a bakery that has made them their specialty.
Escaping the Key Lime pie pan seems to be their goal here at Key West Cakes, as we opened the door there was a tall Key Lime pie layer cake with key lime filling spread thickly between each layer.
We explained we had a severe case of munchie’s for Key Lime cupcakes and several locals had steered us to their bakery.
They did not disappoint us, as these cupcakes were packed full of flavor, delicate and fluffy, with bits of lime zest mixed right in with cream cheese frosting on the top. It tastes like Key Lime pie filling should.
Certain cupcakes even had a graham cracker crust crumbled over the top, for that real pie feel.
They even have invented Key Lime pie cake pops, which are cake balls stuck on sticks with a chocolate coating. They were all decorated really cute and are very tasty with the Key Lime flavor strong without tasting too sour.
The baker’s here are incredibly creative artists that make remarkably real cake designs. Just take a look at all the pictures here.
So the next time you’re cruising down Route 1 in Key West and have a sweet tooth craving for Key Lime, this is your one-stop shop for sure.
