World Trade Center Twin Towers – 9/11 – New York City
The World Trade Center Twin Towers were only 3 miles away from Route 1, and on September 11, 2001, this terrible event happened, caused by an Islamic extremist group, al-Qaeda. Some 2,750 people were killed in New York, because of the plane crashes into the Twin Towers on this day. Police and fire departments in New York were especially hard-hit: hundreds rushed to the scene of the attacks, and more than 400 police officers and firefighters were killed. This is a day that will never be forgotten, and we need to always honor all of the police officers, firefighters, and individuals that did everything they could to help and save the lives of people that were caught in this terrorist attack.
