MarketFair Mall: A Princeton, NJ Tradition Since 1987
The MarketFair Mall is a great mall in Princeton, right on Route 1. I, and my family, have gone to this mall for over 25 years. When my kids were born this was the place that we went to every year to visit Santa. We truly love this mall, with the great restaurants that they have, the great retail stores, with things to do in the hallways, and a ten-screen AMC Theater.
MarketFair was built in 1987 by JMB/Federated Realty (now Urban Shopping Centers) and is managed by Centennial Real Estate. The one-story mall, then called Princeton MarketFair, was positioned as a fashion center. The MarketFair Mall is a shopping mall in West Windsor, New Jersey, with a Princeton mailing address. With a gross leasable area of 240,000 square feet, the mall is located along U.S. Route 1, between New York City and Philadelphia. About 83,000 cars pass by every day. The anchor stores are AMC Theatres, Pottery Barn, LensCrafters, and Barnes & Noble.
With the huge explosion of online purchases, the question comes up, “Will malls be able to still exist?”
Here at the MarketFair Mall, there are stores shutting down, and empty stores in the mall. Also, some of the restaurants are also closing down too, like the TGI Fridays restaurant which closed permanently in January 2024.
I am really hoping and praying that everyone continues with the physical interaction with Malls, as the shutting down of our malls will really make the great family experiences disappear.
