Tucked away in an enclave of Pawtucket, RI called Oak Hill, the Modern Diner is a mid-Century streamlined train car that’s still operating as diner, doubling as a museum of architectural curiosity. John Margolies documented this classic for his Roadside America collection in 1978, before the backside attachment (a modern kitchen!) was constructed. Today, the place is as busy as ever. Maybe call ahead if you don’t want to wait for a table… 364 East Ave, Pawtucket 401-726-8390
