Doesn't look a day over 145 years old in Wrentham, MA
The Proctor Mansion Inn is one of the best preserved Victorian residences I’ve ever visited. It is right up there with the Ebenezer Maxwell House in Germantown (Philadelphia). The scale of the place is overwhelming, at 10,000 square feet. The ceilings are unusually high, giving one a bit of the Lilliputian treatment. Read the history, if you’re into that sort of thing as much as I am proctormansioninn.com/history/ The plaster is still intact. The painting on the ceilings and walls has been retouched, but is original. It is like living in a museum, until you step into the bathroom and realize how subtle the renovation process was in order to bring the Inn up to modern sanitary standards.
Hats off to Deri, the Manager, who attended to every detail of our visit and who made us feel very much at home, and gave a clear impression that she was passionate about her work, despite the lack of traffic during the pandemic. If you’re passing through Wrentham, or if you’re looking for a romantic getaway for a few nights, I highly recommend you try to book here.
