Pinehurst Brewery
Nestled in a repurposed steam plant, the Pinehurst Brewing Company caters to thirsty golfers and locals who come in droves for freshly brewed beer, gourmet pizza, and superb barbecue. The location is decidedly not in-town, so there’s ample free parking, a yard for corn hole tosses, an outdoor area underneath a trellis, and space for a look-in micro brewery where you can see how they’re making what you are drinking. You can smell the barbecue being prepared in the outdoor smokers, one of the best advertising methods I know!
Opened in 1895, the old brick steam plant has an indelible character which heightens the visitor’s experience. Around every corner is another reminder of the industry that supported the needs of 20th Century Pinehurst; valves, plates, spindles and pipes have been incorporated into restaurant furnishings. Vintage photos tell the story of what once was there, how it fell into disrepair, and was brought back to life in 2018 as a microbrewery.
Prices are a bit fancy, as one would expect in a golf resort. In my mind the quality of the offerings, the unique design of the spaces and the convenient location justified the freight.
